I’ve been dragging my feet on cleaning up my table and chairs. I was just so impressed with how the scratches seem to just disappear. I went over with a dry cloth twice as I didn’t want to get it on my clothes. I was going to let it set overnight and go over with a dry cloth again.

After researching a number of products on Amazon that claim to cover scratches and/or restore wood furniture, I purchased Old English for dark wood. It seems that for over 6-7 months, behind my back, my large Ginger cat has been probably running and jumping from the back of the sofa onto the top of a lovely, antique, serpentine drawer desk and leaving long claw scratches! I was really saddened to see the damage to the piece of furniture, although never restored, has always been in excellent antique condition. Because I trusted the brand name of Old English and a number of reviews, I gathered rubber gloves, microfiber rags [12″ x 12″ SmartRags that I purchased on Amazon] and the bottle.

I followed the directions by first rubbing into the scratched areas [probably 50% of the surface] and then applying evenly across the entire desk top. After letting it dry for about 45 minutes, I gently rubbed the surface with a clean microfiber rag. Amazing! I mean standing a foot away from the desk, I see no scratches; the desk top looks as if it was sanded and stained. It may be that the product happens to closely match the dark wood pretty well, but I feel it will work well with any medium dark/dark wood surface.

Suggestion: Remember to wear gloves and, if you have trouble removing the lid like I and another reviewer did, turn the bottle from straight up position to an angle, push in and turn…all the while remembering you are working with a liquid stain product.

I recently got some dark walnut furniture out of storage, and it needed some serious TLC. Not only was it suffering scratches from before, but it was definitely showing signs of having been stored too long. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a professional restoration effort, so I decided to see what I could do for it on my own.

That’s where this product came into play. The wood had lost its luster and was even showing some slight signs of surface mold, so I dabbed a bit of this Old English on a cloth and attacked a panel to see what would happen. It was like magic. The wood came back to life, the dimmed parts I suspected were mold disappeared, and the whole panel looked rich and alive and happy. I was pretty shocked, to be honest, so I thought there must be another shoe to drop. I mean, how can this one product breathe new life into old moldy stored wood items with one application? Can’t happen.

So I waited a few hours and then went and checked the panel fully expecting it to be dried out and dull. But no, it was still beautiful. Hmph, I said to myself, it’ll be back gasping for air in the morning. But nope, it was still gorgeous. So I waited a week. Still lovely.

Okay, it was time to do the whole piece, plus every other piece that I had rescued from nearly ten years of storage. The results are stunning. Sure, I used a lot of this product, but I had a lot of pieces, and they are all gorgeous now, with new life and shine.

As for the scratch coverage, one piece did have a pretty significant scratch (almost a gouge, really) that this product was not really up to disappearing, but it’s now much less noticeable, and all the surface scratches and discoloring are completely corrected. I couldn’t be more pleased. I will never not have this product in my home. It’s a life-saver for wood furniture, no matter how old or neglected it was before being rescued and brought back to life.

We have two vanities that had hardware break off, leaving holes and scratches behind. The new hardware we bought didn’t match the old areas exactly, leaving some of the holes and scratches very obvious.

I purchased this without having much hope that it would help, but boy was I wrong!

After one application of this, the entire cabinet looked amazing, and the holes and scratches were barely visible. After an additional application it looked like new!

If you’re looking for a miracle, this is your product!

    5. Out w/ the old & In w/ the new.

Only polished over the mahogany entry table once and the old went away and it looks brand new.
      This is a fantastic product.

I remember my mom had a bottle of this decades ago. On a whim, I thought “maybe it can cover up some old scratches, and make some of my furniture look like new.” well, not like NEW, but not like a shambles of an unkept bachelor

I am amazed at how easy it is to apply, and how much better everything looks with a thin coat. Scratches and dents of many decades of neglect? gone! Poof! Clean and looking great.

      Love it.

My coffee table was looking really worn. It had a lot of Knicks and scratches from years of prolongued daily use (despite regular cleaning) and I thought maybe it was time to replace it. My last hope was this furniture polish. It worked! The wood is now free of defects, has a lustrous sheen and the grain stands out beautifully. It looks brand new. The polish is easy to apply (only took a few minutes) and the cost is reasonable. I really like and recommend this product.

I moved and must have lost my bottle. I freaked out when I could not find it. This simply works on all medium to dark woods. And it works quickly and lasts. This stuff is like liquid gold for furniture care. I simply cannot be without a bottle around the house.

I love this product and I have bought several bottles through the years. They are great for covering up scratches and depending on how much you use, you can get it to match just about any shade medium to darker wood. It is super easy to use and I will continue buying this as long as they make it. I highly recommend this tried and true product.

My hardwood floors had some bad scratches from my dogs and young child in the high traffic areas. The wood was also just. It in great condition in the seams. (I had them refinished only 5 years ago). I was actually looking for stain to put into the scratches and stumbled upon this. While it is not perfect they look SO MUCH BETTER and the wood was conditioned in the process. I am truly amazed by this product. The application was no my too difficult. I did go over it a few times to make sure there wasn’t a lot of excess with worry it would get in our feet and transfer to the area rug. So far no issues. I did do it before bed so it could dry overnight. If your looking for a cheap fix this is a great option!
